I long to give to you the
Daffodils
That are standing unburdened
In my new favorite vase
They are dappled
With the morning light
Shimmering a blessing of promise
For days to come
after these days of horror
And strife

There are so many
That need my attention
So many that need my prayer and
What little encouragement
I can offer in these days of pandemic
But at the moment
All I can do
Is watch these daffodils
And how the blooms
Shift focus
In the changing light
Of the morning

Shadows of what are
Behind the blossoms
Are revealed now
And then disappear
As another facet
Of the bloom
Is illuminated
And the sunlight moves
Across the table
As morning time moves into noon

I didn’t know that
Daffodils
Could bring tears
To my eyes
But here they are
Expressing what is
In my heart
A longing to know
That you are truly okay
